This tutorial serves as an introduction to Struct PIM 4's powerful search engine. Starting with the basic navigation and available tools for searching, elaborating on the tools and when to utilize the different tools.
This section will give a brief overview of the different areas and buttons that can help you specify searches. Understanding your options is key to optimize your searches and helping you find the entities you are searching for even faster.
These four buttons decide which entity you are searching for; Categories, Products, Variant groups or Variants.
This is the column area. The columns decide what information is shown about the entities, you can also write search terms in the columns. Read more about columns in the .
This is the Filter area. This is where filters are added and modified. Read more about filters in the .
This is the 'Manage columns'-button. Clicking this allows you to add, sort or remove columns. Read more about managing columns in the .
These two buttons allow you to determine whether to show the resulting entities in a table-view or grid-view.
This is the 'Quick export'-button. Clicking this downloads an .xlsx file of the current search result with the chosen columns.
This is the 'Include archived'-button. When this is toggled archived entities are included in the search result, when untoggled archived entities are excluded from the search result.

This is the 'Save search'-button. Clicking this allows you to save frequently used searches.
Columns are a great way of deciding the information you wish to see when searching through entities or to quickly search for a specific value through column headers.
To manage columns you click the 'Manage columns'-button. This will bring up the column overlay which allows you to:
Search for available columns by writing in the 'Search available columns'-bar.
Add columns by clicking on the '+'-icon.
Remove columns by clicking the 'trashcan'-icon.
Sort columns by moving them around.
Having managed which columns you wish to see, you can also search with the help of the columns by clicking the column header and entering search terms.
By default the system searches for results that starts with the value you have written in the column header, however though the use of search syntax you can be more specific when searching.
In the image below we are searching for products where the product structure is either 'Non-food' or 'Clothing' and the price is below 200€.
Filters are a great way for you filter entities by properties, without displaying the property in the search result list.
For some filters also feel like a more intuitive way of searching as the searches get more complex.
The filter area contains plenty new buttons, all of which are explained here:
'Add filter'-button: This button will let you choose a data field to filter on and add it as a new filter.
'Clear all'-button: Clicking this button will clear all values from all filters.
'Clear'-button: Clicking this button will clear the value of the filter it exists on.
'Remove filter'-button: Clicking this button will remove the filter it exists on.
'Collapse filter'-button: Clicking this button will collapse the filter it exists on, hiding the values and only showing the property name.
'Show options'-button: Clicking this button will open a menu, with the options of removing all filters, reordering filters, or expanding or collapsing all filters.
In the image above we have added three filters, Product structure, Completeness: Basic enrichment and Cost Price (EUR).
For Product structures we have added two values, 'Non-food' and 'Clothing', this means that products can have either 'Non-food' or 'Clothing' as their product structures.
For Completeness: basic enrichment we have set the minimum to 50 and maximum to 100. This means products must have Completeness: basic enrichment in the range from 50% to 100%.
For Cost Price (EUR) we have set the minimum to 20 and maximum to 200. This means products must have a price that is equal to or above 20 and equal to or below 200.
The advanced filter allows you to make complex queries with no limits.
Building the complex query will happen in the Advanced filter overlay. Here is an explanation of the buttons and what information is shown on this overlay:
'Add rule'-button: Clicking this will add a new rule under the rule or rule set it exists on.
'Remove rule'-button: Clicking this button will remove the rule or rule set it exists on.
'Query condition'-button: This button allows you to choose whether the query condition of a rule or sub rule is 'and' or 'or'.
This is where you can choose which data field you wish to filter on.
This is where the operator for a rule is chosen.
This is where the value that a rule has to satisfy is chosen.
This shows the amount of entities that satisfies the rule or rule set it exists on.
'Move query in'-button: Clicking this allows you to move the rule it exists on into a new rule set.
'Move query out'-button: Clicking this allows you to move the rule it exists on out of the current rule set.
'Refresh result'-button: Clicking this will refresh the the result of rules and rule sets, updating the result count.
