# How to use AI Studio

Learn how to use AI studio to optimize and transform your images.

AI Studio gives you a set of AI-powered tools you can apply directly to an image from its entity page, from simple background removal to generating a fully AI-composited product video.

This tutorial will go through all the tools available.&#x20;

### Opening AI Studio

Open the entity page of an image asset and click "Image studio" to access the AI tools available on it.

<figure><img src="https://2141378775-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FuUonpFWM7AJ0xVVXV1tr%2Fuploads%2FNwGXqtUJKeR0tELniWh0%2FSk%C3%A6rmbillede%202026-08-20%20152543.png?alt=media&amp;token=5f17fdb3-afb6-427c-a975-91496892162b" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### Removing and expanding the background

Under "Background", "Remove background" lifts the subject out from its surroundings. Before generating, you set the rest of the configuration in the same panel, choosing what should replace the background ("Transparent", "Color", or "AI generated"), the ouyput dimensions, and how much padding to leave around the subject.

<div><figure><img src="https://2141378775-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FuUonpFWM7AJ0xVVXV1tr%2Fuploads%2FJV61b3IfKtqol1fJB3kB%2FSk%C3%A6rmbillede%202026-08-24%20094838.png?alt=media&amp;token=8d42b6e4-50c8-4026-a04d-070c51ae3a08" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure> <figure><img src="https://2141378775-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FuUonpFWM7AJ0xVVXV1tr%2Fuploads%2F8mWAqyljddenl9S77uo4%2FSk%C3%A6rmbillede%202026-08-24%20094912.png?alt=media&amp;token=2bcda448-a179-47c8-aec4-a793dbff81c9" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

If the subject is fine but the canvas around it is too tight, use "Expand" instead and enter a width and/or height larger than the current dimensions. AI Studio fills in the area to match the rest of the image.

### Editing with AI

Under "Edit with AI", describe the change you want made in the prompt field, and AI Studio applies it direcktly to the image.

<div align="left"><figure><img src="https://2141378775-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FuUonpFWM7AJ0xVVXV1tr%2Fuploads%2F8ES4nIIgSWqCi7qL1uxh%2FSk%C3%A6rmbillede%202026-08-24%20100823.png?alt=media&amp;token=b5c498b7-9658-446c-9a30-8f72d2eb0990" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure> <figure><img src="https://2141378775-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FuUonpFWM7AJ0xVVXV1tr%2Fuploads%2F9Pkcodvf6yf6953jH39Q%2FSk%C3%A6rmbillede%202026-08-24%20100851.png?alt=media&amp;token=5849410c-3f72-46f7-bcb6-0ab7b003493c" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

### Optimizing lighting

Click "Optimize lighting" to automatically improve the brightness and the contrast of the image, without adjusting anything yourself.

<div><figure><img src="https://2141378775-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FuUonpFWM7AJ0xVVXV1tr%2Fuploads%2F0BnnezYFiziKO3ozPaF7%2FSk%C3%A6rmbillede%202026-08-24%20102404.png?alt=media&amp;token=bcc25cfc-0641-4c38-af0f-72253a937519" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure> <figure><img src="https://2141378775-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FuUonpFWM7AJ0xVVXV1tr%2Fuploads%2FLCxCXOW7kJXNc3crpeWA%2FSk%C3%A6rmbillede%202026-08-24%20102416.png?alt=media&amp;token=5cbfe4e8-641b-46c2-9590-3d7d3da0e3a5" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

### Creating a ghost mannequin

For clothing photos, "Create ghost mannequin" turns the image into a mannequin-style product presentation, preserving the shape of the garment while removing the visible model or hanger&#x20;

<div><figure><img src="https://2141378775-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FuUonpFWM7AJ0xVVXV1tr%2Fuploads%2FqXUBbQ77tKxOS1SeS5HV%2FSk%C3%A6rmbillede%202026-08-24%20103314.png?alt=media&amp;token=9ca96a0f-39bf-44e4-9ecb-025f24a362de" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure> <figure><img src="https://2141378775-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FuUonpFWM7AJ0xVVXV1tr%2Fuploads%2FgYi5kQGuZZuazNZrXzQb%2FSk%C3%A6rmbillede%202026-08-24%20103353.png?alt=media&amp;token=d5aa4499-8159-429f-8f82-26bc10683421" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

### Creating a virtual model

If you'd rather present the product on a model than as a ghost mannequin, enable "Create virtual model", and desribe the scene you want in the prompt field, for example "street style, casual outdoor setting". You can also pick a pose, or select a specific model image from your media archive instead of letting the AI Studio choose one.&#x20;

<div><figure><img src="https://2141378775-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FuUonpFWM7AJ0xVVXV1tr%2Fuploads%2FrajBV1y0H3ITMDvJHzu0%2FSk%C3%A6rmbillede%202026-08-17%20093807.png?alt=media&amp;token=67284b00-0126-4409-adac-08844213e736" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure> <figure><img src="https://2141378775-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FuUonpFWM7AJ0xVVXV1tr%2Fuploads%2FzfbeumoRenMA96tgUYQL%2FSk%C3%A6rmbillede%202026-08-17%20093832.png?alt=media&amp;token=e50fe740-045c-4cd1-a996-b8b7d5030b24" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

### Upscaling

"Upscale" increases its resolution so it holds up on larger displays.

{% hint style="info" %}
Note that "Upscale" only works on images up to 512x512px.
{% endhint %}

<div><figure><img src="https://2141378775-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FuUonpFWM7AJ0xVVXV1tr%2Fuploads%2FbfFRfxlLF1Z1injRMXjq%2FSk%C3%A6rmbillede%202026-08-24%20104825.png?alt=media&amp;token=c4f32fd1-5100-4ddf-a806-1890608ec6c9" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure> <figure><img src="https://2141378775-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FuUonpFWM7AJ0xVVXV1tr%2Fuploads%2FNCR5Ik8GqKoEpZlaGAXT%2FSk%C3%A6rmbillede%202026-08-24%20104845.png?alt=media&amp;token=30d7a880-e18c-441a-abba-e9d4dcf195d8" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

### Adding a shadow&#x20;

Click "Add shadow" and choose between the presets Soft, Hard, and Floating, or select Custom to set the direction, spread, subject pose, intensity, and softness yourself.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.struct.com/tutorials/guides/how-to-use-media/how-to-use-ai-studio.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
