# How to use Global search
Easily search through all data within your PIM
## What is Global search?
Global search puts your entire PIM within reach. Find the items you need, regardless of where they are stored. Use it to jump straight to a product, asset, or other data. Skip the navigation and keep your workflow moving. This guide shows you how to access and use global search.
## Access global search
There are two ways to enter global search:
1. Click the global search icon in the navmenu, as seen below
2. via the keyboard shortcut: `CTRL` + `SHIFT` + `F`
Both of these accessmethods also double as a way to **exit** global search without committing to a search. But you can also use `ESC` to exit
## Searching in: Types
This part shows you what types your search is filtered to show. As a standard you will search in 'Products', 'Variants', Variant groups' and 'Assets' As shown below.
## Filter
By clicking the `Filter` button you will see 'in:' be pasted in the searchbar.
you can also type 'in:' yourself if you prefer a mousefree experience
You can select items from the list, either via your mouse, or by navigating with your arrowkeys and confirming your selection with `ENTER` or `TAB`
## Selecting search result
When it comes to selecting the item you have searched for, it is the same controls that were when selecting filters. You can select items either via your mouse or by navigating with your arrowkeys and confirming your selection with `ENTER` or `TAB`
Once an item has been selected you will be send to said items entry.
## How to change which fields the global search looks in?
To change the fields the global search looks in you must select them in:
**Settings** > **General setup** > **Global search fields**
You can make it look into the attribute fields of products, variants, variant groups, categories and assets.
I already have three in product fields. But i also want to search for my wines by their sealing system. For me this is another product field. I do this by flicking the field and typing to search.
Now i am able to use the global search to search through my wines by their sealing system.
