# Workflow state transitions

You can add or update workflow states through [Settings](/reference/settings.md) > [Data governance](/reference/settings/data-governance.md) > [Workflows](/reference/settings/data-governance/workflows.md) > [Workflow states](/reference/settings/data-governance/workflows/workflow-states.md) > [Workflow state transitions](/reference/settings/data-governance/workflows/workflow-states/workflow-state-transitions.md).

### View workflow state transitions

Workflow state transitions can be viewed when editing or creating a workflow state.

### Add a new workflow state transition

1. Click "+ Add"
2. Set [Workflow state transition details](/reference/settings/data-governance/workflows/workflow-states/workflow-state-transitions/workflow-state-transition-details.md)
3. Click "Update transition"

### Edit workflow state transition

1. Click "Edit"-icon
2. Set [Workflow state transition details](/reference/settings/data-governance/workflows/workflow-states/workflow-state-transitions/workflow-state-transition-details.md)
3. Click "Update transition"

### Delete workflow state transition

1. Click "Delete"-icon
2. Confirm deletion

Note: Remember to save the workflow after making changes to workflow state transitions. Otherwise changes made will not persist.
